The 10 steps
- Free on-site inspection. We look at the slab's hardness, cracks, oil, old coatings, moisture signs, and sun exposure, measure the area, and review systems and color samples with you. You get a written quote listing prep, products, and cure times.
- Clear the space and protect the house. You clear the garage. We tape and mask walls, doors, and water heaters, and set up dust-extraction equipment. In summer we plan a first-light start so critical coats go down before the slab heats up.
- Diamond grind the concrete. Planetary diamond grinders with HEPA dust extraction remove the weak surface layer, old sealers, and paint and open the concrete's pores. Edges are ground by hand. This mechanical profile is what the coating locks into.
- Repair cracks, spalls, and joints. Cracks and spalls are filled with fast-setting repair material and ground flush. Control joints are detailed. Where soil movement has cracked the slab, we note any active movement honestly before continuing.
- Clean and check. The floor is vacuumed thoroughly and checked for contamination. Oil spots get extra treatment. Slab temperature is checked before mixing any resin.
- Apply the base coat. A pigmented epoxy or polyaspartic base coat is applied at the specified thickness. It builds the body of the system and bonds to the ground concrete.
- Broadcast flake or apply the decorative layer. For flake floors, vinyl chips are broadcast into the wet base to full coverage. For metallic floors, pigmented clear resin is worked by hand. Solid-color floors get a second color coat.
- Scrape, vacuum, and inspect. Once the broadcast has cured, loose chips are scraped and vacuumed for a uniform texture, and the floor is inspected for coverage.
- Apply the UV-stable topcoat. A clear polyaspartic (or other aliphatic) topcoat seals the floor, resists hot tires and chemicals, and prevents yellowing in the sun. Anti-slip additive can go in here.
- Final walkthrough and cure times. We walk the floor with you, remove masking, and give written walk-on and park-on times plus care tips. Most garages are done in one to three days.
Day-by-day: what a typical schedule looks like
Day 1
Setup, masking, grinding, repairs, and cleaning. On a straightforward slab, the base coat and flake broadcast may also go down on day one, early in the morning or after the slab cools in the evening during summer.
Day 2
Scraping and vacuuming loose chips, inspection, and the topcoat. Foot traffic usually returns within about a day after the topcoat.
Day 3 (if needed)
Extra repair time, a second topcoat, or metallic layers. Vehicles return after the written park-on time.

In June through September, we check slab temperature before mixing, work in smaller batches, and may shade the work area or partially close the door. After the install
